GoldandBlack.com's Purdue player draft: No. 12 pick

This summer, the Boilermakers are being divided.

Reporters Stacy Clardie and Kyle Charters are going head-to-head in GoldandBlack.com's Purdue player draft, a daily selection in which separate rosters of 25 are being assembled over the next two months. In late July, we'll decide — based on GoldandBlack.com staff and member feedback — which team would win.

No. 12, with Charters choosing ...

Jordan Roos is the fourth offensive linemen selected in a row, even though the senior is probably one of the Boilermakers' top three on the line.

There's really only a couple options here at No. 12.

I could take Elijah Sindelar, making Stacy pay for continuing to not draft a quarterback. But, again, not sure she's in any rush to do so, so why should I be? If I don't here, maybe she will take him with her next pick, but I'm guessing not. Quite the risk she's running. But she has to, because she's behind.

The other obvious option — as Stacy pointed to Monday — is right guard Jordan Roos. The senior is the next offensive lineman on the board, and would be the fifth OL picked, even though he's probably Purdue's second- or third-best. Not bad value, although selecting a right guard at No. 12 seems a bit meh.

Still, it's a need, so I'll go with it. Roos is a good right guard, so I can place the 6-foot-4, 301-pounder there, but he has some versatility as well, able to move outside to right tackle. It might be where he ended up for my squad. (Or heck, I might have to force him to snap).

Once the lid was opened on offensive linemen, I thought we'd hit a run of them, and we have, now up to four consecutive selected. But that should shift. There's a drop to the next in line, likely Matt McCann, so it seems unlikely that the redshirt freshman will make it five in a row.

Where do we go from here? I doubt Stacy takes Sindelar at 13. She doesn't have a player yet in her defensive front seven; shouldn't she probably do that?
