Next season's frontcourt

Purdue sophomore Vince Edwards has joined freshman Caleb Swanigan in declaring for the NBA draft without hiring an agent, another of the many prospects who are taking advantage of the new setup that allows players to explore their draft stock more meaningfully than they could in past years.

The forward announced Tuesday morning that he has declared for the draft. As long as he withdraws by May 25, he will retain the balance of his college eligibility without penalty. In the meantime, he is free to communicate with NBA personnel, take part in team workouts and the draft combine should he be invited.

Edwards was Purdue's second-leading scorer this season at 11.3 points per game, but finished the season playing his best after transitioning to the small forward position. The 6-foot-8 forward has led the Boilermakers in assists each of his two seasons with the team.

More to come ...
